The Nose Knows 🐕
CBS 8 San Diego recently published a feature highlighting one of the San Diego Police Department’s newest K9 Crimefighters: Phoebe Zorra. She serves on the San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children (SD-ICAC) Task Force, which investigates online child exploitation and targets predators.
Phoebe Zorra has an important job. As an electronic storage detection canine, she is trained to detect and locate hidden electronic storage devices such as hard drives, flash drives, SD cards, and cell phones. By sniffing out a unique chemical compound called TPPO, found in electronic components, she helps investigators uncover critical evidence that suspects often try to hide.
Canines like Phoebe Zorra play a vital role in helping law enforcement bring child predators to justice and protect vulnerable children from harm.
Phoebe Zorra joined the K9 Unit thanks to generous community contributions made through the San Diego Police Foundation.

Catching child predators is important, but preventing the victimization of our children is equally important. It all starts with proactive involvement and preventative education.
In collaboration with the San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children (SD-ICAC) Task Force, the San Diego Police Foundation offers SafetyNet: Smart Cyber Choices®, a program focused on teaching safer online practices to children, parents and guardians, educators, and other caring adults.
This public safety initiative empowers students of all ages to identify and avoid these threats through in-school internet safety assemblies, as well as virtual presentations to accommodate distance learning. Our mission is to make San Diego safer through internet safety and awareness education for children, parents and guardians, educators, and community leaders. We’re empowering today’s youth to be safe and thoughtful users of technology.
