IACP 2023

The San Diego Police Department was proud to host this year’s International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) conference. From October 14-17, over 15,000 conference attendees learned about programs, technology, and field solutions geared towards enhancing the ability of police chief’s from around the world to better serve and protect.

To support SDPD as the host Department of IACP, the San Diego Police Foundation organized two community-building events during the conference, the Chiefs Charity Golf Classic and the San Diego 5K Fun Run.

Chiefs Charity Golf Classic

The golf tournament provided an opportunity for police chiefs around the world to come together for a friendly competition, while supporting SDPD and the Police Foundation. This event enabled SDPD to cultivate relationships with law enforcement leaders from other major cities and foster connections with vendors committed to public safety. Golfers enjoyed the idyllic San Diego weather and the breathtaking vistas of our iconic coastline.

San Diego 5K Fun Run

The San Diego 5K Fun Run gathered nearly 300 participants to the scenic Embarcadero on an early Monday morning. The event kicked off with a welcoming from Captain Takeuchi of the Neighborhood Policing Division and a pre-race warm-up led by a Qualcomm representative. The first wave of runners was escorted by police motorcycles with officers lining the route. The 5K Fun Run provided SDPD with the opportunity to proudly showcase their beloved city to visiting law enforcement professionals and conference attendees, with all proceeds supporting our local department.
