SafetyNet® Continues to Grow
The SafetyNet: Smart Cyber Choices® program just completed the 2022-2023 school year with its highest numbers in their 15-year history, by reaching over 16,000 students!
SafetyNet® is an initiative of the San Diego Police Foundation that is designed to help kids, parents, educators, and concerned adults learn how to keep children safe online. This locally based preventative and proactive educational program focuses on helping to keep our children from becoming victims of online dangers before it’s too late.
As more and more districts across the country are becoming what is known as 1:1 (one to one), which means schools are providing an electronic device per each individual student, SafetyNet® is staying at the forefront of being CIPA compliant. The Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) requires that these 1:1 schools must provide education about appropriate online behavior, including interacting with other individuals on social networking websites and in chat rooms, and cyberbullying awareness and response. Is your child’s school CIPA Compliant?
If you are a parent, teacher, or concerned community member, you can support SafetyNet® by booking a presentation, or by donating online to support the program. Book now for the 2023-2024 school year!
