Congratulations to Assistant Chief Scott Wahl on his appointment by Mayor Gloria to head the San Diego Police Department. We are pleased to see a leader from within SDPD’s own ranks selected to take this important post.

I have had the opportunity to work directly with Assistant Chief Wahl over the last dozen years on several key projects for the Foundation as well as a number of prominent events for the Police Department. I observed firsthand the dedication, intelligence, and talent of this remarkable leader. This is a good day for San Diego since Assistant Chief Wahl has such a deep-rooted connection to our city coupled with a longstanding commitment to the goal of safety for ALL.

Assistant Chief Wahl said today, “I’m a fourth-generation San Diegan. I’m born and raised here. I grew up the son of a San Diego police officer. Doing this job is all I’ve ever wanted to do.”

The San Diego Police Foundation’s Board of Directors and staff celebrate this appointment. I know we can count on your continued support as Chief David Nisleit concludes his long and distinguished career and passes the baton to our new Chief of Police, Scott Wahl.

Please consider making a donation today in honor of our new Chief of Police.
