Soirée: The Cop Hop

On Saturday, September 20, we held our annual Soirée: The Cop Hop, hopping back in time for a spirited evening benefiting our men and women in blue, and our beloved police dogs.

Vintage cars and milkshake bouquets set the scene as guests mingled in the garden, many donning lettermen jackets and poodle skirts while catching up with old friends. Nearly every table sponsored a San Diego Police Department leader or K9 Officer, bringing the mission we support even closer to heart. After dinner at sunset, guests cruised to the ballroom where a crooner’s velvet voice and swing dancers lit up the checkerboard dance floor.

The program opened with a reflection on the Foundation’s accomplishments from the past year, including funding ten new K9 Crimefighters. Among them was Phoebe Zorra, an electronic storage detection dog serving the San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, helping bring child predators to justice.

Our Honorary Chairs, Vicki and Chris Eddy, were celebrated for their steadfast dedication to public safety, and charmed us with a moving declaration of thanks. Chief Scott Wahl then delivered a heartfelt address, expressing his deep gratitude for the community’s support.

The room rose to its feet in a standing ovation as Sergeant Patrick Harvey was honored as Canine Handler of the Year—his own achievements celebrated alongside the remarkable career and retirement of his loyal four-legged partner, K9 Witse.

Supporters like you made all the difference, expressed in a fountain of generosity that resulted in over $380,000 in net proceeds, including fully funding four new police dogs—WOW!  These significant contributions will propel the San Diego Police Foundation’s mission to ensure that our police officers have what they need to do their jobs safely and with excellence.
